Pat’s Travelers Checklist

Pat’s Travelers Checklist

As you know, Wilmington, Carolina Beach, and Wrightsville Beach are not only our coastline homes, but a beautiful area that we share with travelers every Summer.  Whether you like to stay and host out-of-town guests, or hit the road, we want to share our checklist for keeping your vehicle running heroically this Summer.

1) Engine OilTransmission and Differential Fluids:
Like any machine with moving parts, lubrication can prevent the friction that causes long-lasting damage.
2) Hoses:
A rubber hose may have a long shelf-life…on the shelf.  Under the hood, hoses are exposed to heat on a regular basis and wear quickly.  An inexpensive part of vehicle maintenance that will help keep you safe.
3) Serpentine Belt:
One large belt in charge of a lot of components. Like loading all of your eggs in one basket; if the bottom falls out…
4) Engine Coolant:
Imagine running a marathon with no training for such distances. Good chance your body will overheat.  Engine coolant maintenance is easy and can be done on your own.  However, it is important to not mix types!
5) Brake System:
High-speeds, wet roads, and steep climbs may all be a part of your trek.  Having properly working brakes, can make a huge difference in your safety.
6) Battery:
Most batteries have a life-span between 2 and 5 years. If you’re unsure of its age, be sure to get it checked.  Cleaning your battery of corrosive, white, flaky, substance is a good way to increase the lifespan.
7) Tires:
Where the rubber meets the road.  Tire pressure can directly affect your fuel efficiency, and grip on the road. Alignment and tire balance will keep you driving straight. Proper tread ensures stability and dependability.  Check your tread with Honest Abe. When inserting a penny into your tread, you should not be able to see his shoulder.
8) AC Performance:
While it may seem like a convenience or luxury, Air Conditioning may provide safety benefits in the heat of Summer.

Planning trips, going for long drive is an awesome experience. However if any type of breakdown will occur, then it convert our excitement in to a bitter one. Hence a smart driver should always check its vehicle. Brake system, battery and tire are the most important components to check. Brake works for our safety, so check, your brake is working properly or not. Battery last between two to five years, hence checking your battery is also essential. In case of tire ,it is the only part which is in direct contact of ground, so it worn out after a specific time period so check your tire condition as well as its tread and pressure, before planning any trip. Summer is considered as the best season for the long road trip. However, some people forget to evaluate the condition of different components used in the vehicle before leaving for a long road trip as a result of which they could face problems during the road trip. Battery is affected by the extreme temperature of the summer. So, if the battery is too old, then it should be replaced with new one according to the owner’s manual or we may also ask professionals(http://www.cerroneseuropean.com/services ) to provide proper guidance in selecting the suitable battery for the vehicle.

A quick inspection of the different components of the vehicle is really essential prior to leaving for a long road trip. By conducting such kind of inspection, one could identify abnormal components and repair such components in time to ensure the smoother performance of the vehicle. However, such kind of inspection should be conducted by experienced technicians. Because such technicians have in-depth knowledge in such field and could identify any kind of hidden damage which could create a problem in near future. Undoubtedly, different types of fluids used in the vehicle including the engine oil should be inspected at a regular interval. Lubricants used in the vehicle loses the viscosity over time due to a lot of factors and should be replaced with suitable substitutes for effective lubrication of different components of the vehicle. Lack of lubricant could jeopardize the performance of the vehicle. So, the condition of the lubricant should be inspected and damaged components should be replaced with suitable substitutes. Summer is the perfect time for organizing road trips. But before leaving for a road trip we have to check the level of different fluids, level of engine coolant, brake system, battery & tires. Apart from this, we should also check all other components of the vehicle and if any component is found to be damaged, then it must be replaced with a suitable substitute prior to leaving for a road trip. For replacement of damaged components in your car, you may refer to:
